Celebrating Our New Kitchen Complex and Learning Center

While it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to raise a kitchen complex. On October fourth, members of the Sabina community gathered to dedicate the new kitchen complex with a mass and tour. The socially-distanced celebration included testimonials as well as a blessing from Monsignor Kasibante, who traveled from the Archdiocese of Kampala for the event. Local community leaders, management committee members, staff, students, and parents listened as our local school manager and project lead, Stephen Sango, discussed the projects completed over the past two years in addition to the kitchen. He stated that Friends of Sabina has infused $250,000 into the school through not only the kitchen complex but the new bathrooms, administration offices, fencing, outdoor meeting center, directors' guest house, and more. Stephen also previewed some of our next projects: a computer lab and updating the water, sanitation, and hygiene components for the entire school.

We hope you enjoy this brief tour of our new complex through the eyes of the first Sabina community members to see it.

We also want to take a moment to thank you. Yes, YOU reading this newsletter right now! Your continued support from the very beginning of our kitchen fundraiser, throughout 2021, and up until now has made all of this possible. This new kitchen complex would not be possible without the support from our FOS community and that includes you! You have made a lasting impact not only on the current students’ lives but also on our staff and the local community through your generous donations. You continue to help breathe new life into the school and hope into the community. Thank you for helping to instill the love of learning into the next generation of Uganda.

Save the Date

We are so excited to announce W.A.S.H (water, sanitation, and hygiene), Friends of Sabina’s second annual fundraiser, on Wednesday, December 8! And we want to officially invite you and your family to virtually spend the evening with us. As we celebrate the kitchen complex, we realize we still have a lot of work to do and it is not possible without your support. All proceeds will directly benefit the children of the Sabina School and the local community.

Stay tuned for more information coming soon!
